Tim Yakteen started his career during the 1980s. He moved to Cypress the searching for jobs. Later he worked in horse racking, mucking stalls, and filling water buckets. Then, he started working for Bob Baffert. Yakteen shifted to thoroughbred training from 1988 to 1991.

In 1991, Tim moved to California to work with ‘Hall of Fame’ trainer Charlie Whittingham. He worked for Charlie till 1997, then went back to Baffert.

During his seven-year stint with Bob Baffert, Tim helped him to win several championships, including Real Quiet, Point Given, Silverbulletday, and others.

After gaining few experiences in the field, Yakteen decided to start his own stable named Tim Yakteen Racing stables in 2004.

Yakteen’s first big move was when his horse, the extra-quick ‘Points Offthebench,’ a California-bred colt, garnered four of five starts in 2013. Tim replaced Bob to qualify some of his horses for the Kentucky Derby in May 2022.
