Sunisa Lee is an 18 years old American artistic gymnast born on March 9, 2003, in Saint Paul, Ramsey Country, Minnesota, United States. Her birth sign is Pisces. She has an athletic body with a height of 5 feet or 152.5 cm and a weight of 51 kg or 112.5 lbs. Sunisa is active on social media and has more than 1.6M followers.

She is of Asian race, but her nationality is American, as she was born in the United States. Her homeland is in Laos. She is of descent from the Hmong.

Sunisa went to Minnesota Virtual High School, and in May 2017, she verbally committed to join Auburn University on a gymnastics scholarship. She signed a National Letter of Intent for university in November 2020 and joined the university in August 2021.

She represented Auburn Tigers women’s gymnastics team and was also a United States Junior National Team member. At the age of 6, she started training in gymnastics at Midwest Gymnastics Center in Little Canada, Minnesota.

Sunisa is the first Hmong descent American to represent the United States and win a gold medal.

 In 2021, she attended her first Met Gala event, where she wore a Sukeina dress. She also participated in the dance reality show Dancing With The Stars in September 2021.

Sunisa Lee grown up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with her family. In her family, there are mother, Yeev Thoj, step-father John Lee and five siblings. She has three brothers Jonah Lee’s step-brother, Lucky Lee’s young half-brother, Noah lee, and two sisters, Shyenne Lee’s step-sister and Evionn Lee, young half-sister. Shyenne and Sunisa have only 12 days different in their birthday. Her biological father is unknown.

Both her parents are immigrants from Laos. Her parents are not legally married, but they have three children together. Even if they were not married, they would look after five children. Sunisa was only two years old when her mother met her step-father John Lee. Sunisa decides to change her last name to Lee as John is her father, according to her. Sunisa’s mother was a healthcare worker.

During the covid pandemic, she lost her two close family members. She lost her aunt and uncle, who were very close to her as they used to babysit her when she was a child. They died within two weeks apart. She has to say final goodbye through Zoom.

She expressed her feeling about being featured in the show through a teaser video on Instagram as per usmagazine.

“Hi, guys, I’m Suni Lee and I’m an Olympic gold medalist. I’m so excited to be joining season 30 of Dancing With the Stars, See you on the dance floor.”

In the show, her partner is Sasha Farber. In the opening performance, she danced jive for her first routine on Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI song Stay. She scores 28 out of 40 after all 4-judge give her 7. She finished in second place after all performances were completed behind JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson.

As a senior, she has won 4 gold medals in the 2019 City of Jesolo Trophy, one silver medal in the 2019 American Classic, one silver medal in the U.S. Classic, one gold, silver, and bronze medal in U.S. National Championships 2019, 1 gold and three silver medals in Worlds Team Selection Camp 2019 and 1 gold, silver and bronze in 2019 world Championships.

In 2021 in Winter Cup, she won 1 gold and one bronze medal, and two gold medals in American Classic.

 In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she won 1 gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, a significant highlight of her gymnastics career.
