Her late grandfather, Derek, took seven-year-old Lauren to a local club in Bargoed but was rejected due to underage but eventually got in a football club as a first and only girl member in nearby Fleur-de-Lys.

She was also in a Devils Martial Arts club by Rob Taylor for kickboxing and was trained for almost 10 hours a week. Rob recalled how Lauren was a little girl with light blonde hair and an appetite for working. He also shared that she had an insatiable appetite and work rate.

She fought with adults at the age of 13 and won four senior world Kickboxing titles and European golds. After the age of 14, she moved to Georgetown Girls in Merthyr Tydfil.

Linda also shared how she always told Lauren to reach for the moon, and if she fell short, she would land on stars. So, she worked hard, and her footballing ability shined, and she got to represent Wales at under 16, under 17, under 19, and senior-level all before her 17th birthday. 

She has played for her country 52 times and achieved her two dreams of winning kickboxing titles and international football caps. She also earned her dream of becoming an Olympian. She won gold medals in middleweight in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Game and gold medals in the 2019 Minsk European games.
