Nancy Pelosi started her political career by first interning for Senator Daniel Brewster (D-Maryland) in the 1960s. Later, Nancy moved to San Francisco, California, along with her family, where she befriended 5th District Congressman Phillip Burton.

She was elected as a Democratic National Committee member from California in 1976. Nancy holds the position until 1996. She also served as the finance chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the late 1970s and 1980s.

The event took place after Burton passed away in 1983 and was succeeded by his wife, Sala. However, Sala designated Nancy Pelosi as her successor. That guaranteed that Burton’s previous supporters would support Nancy Pelosi.

Later in 2007, Nancy was appointed as United States Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. She served the title for 4 years till 2011. In 2019, she was reappointed as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, United States, and became the first female speaker.

Moreover, Nancy also appointed as the House minority leader for four years, from 2003 to 2007. Later, again in 2011 till 2019, Nancy reappointed as the House minority leader again in 2011 till 2019.

Nancy Pelosi and her longtime friend John Dingell were nominated as the dean of the House of Representatives. After Nancy defeated Republican John Boehner of Ohio, she became the first woman first California and the first Italian-American to hold the speakership.

Furthermore, Nancy also honored with several awards. Some of them are, (2007) Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and (2013) National Women’s Hall of Fame. Additional to the list is (2016) Dr. Nathan Davis Awards for United States Representatives and (2019) Profile in Courage Award; honorary doctor of Brandeis University.
