After graduation from US Naval Academy, he served as a Deep Sea Diver and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer. As a Navy Diver, he salvaged several plane wreckages including the recovery of John F. Kennedy Jr, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and Lauren Bessette.
Hung has served the US in various countries like Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan. He last returned from Afghanistan, just before the Taliban captured it.
