CNBC’s Squawk on the Street host David Faber is the latest guest host to take over on Jeopardy! and he’s already exceeding expectations.

The 57-years-old Journalist Faber will be taking over at the podium all week as the latest star to guest host the hit competition show following Alex Trebek’s death in November.

After watching David host Jeopardy! for the first time, many folks on social media expressed that they didn’t know Faber until his Jeopardy! Appearance.

The regular viewers appreciated his work, and lots of fans also called him the ultimate guest host and began advocating for him to become the new permanent host of the game show Jeopardy!.

David reflected on his past experience with Alex Trebek in his introduction on Monday evening. Faber shared the exclusive news while he only briefly met Alex when he was a contestant, he feels like he got to know him better through his incredible work.

In the exclusive interview with the show, he said

“I didn’t spend a lot of time with Alex … But really what I actually have done is studied him in part to try to get ready for this. And so I feel actually closer to him from having done that and watched just what a master he was, you can’t really fully appreciate it until you actually think about trying to do it, and then try to actually do it. Oh my God, I don’t know how he did it.”

In 2012, David Faber competed in the Jeopardy! Power Players Tournament defeated former NBA star Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Fox News anchor Dana Perino as per people.com.

David told producers in an interview before appearing on the show that he rewatched the old episodes. He studied the previous episodes, and he also said that the best advice he got on hosting was just kept trying to get me to be myself.

He said there will be fewer opportunities in the game because the game is the star to show a lot of yourself and always wanted to focus on the gameplay.

Jeopardy! announced its new permanent host while David Faber is the second last guest host, sportscaster Joe Buck will be the last guest host to take his turn.
